Just back from an amazing first trip to Italia.
Covered the landscape from Verona, to Florence
to Empoli, to Siena (pictured) to San Gimignano (out of this world) to Naples, to Monte Di Procida, to Positano & the Amalfi Coast, to the Islands of Ischia & Procida, back to Naples, up to Rome, and back home. Made a bunch a friends and shared a bunch of songs. Sang Tiziano Ferro’s “Non Me Lo So Spiegare” at least 20 times, gladly. Spoke all the Italian I know, and then started repeating myself and smiling a lot. (That is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.)
Ate everything that was put in front of me even if I didn’t recognize it. Discovered that many things here in the States are only crude estimations of the real thing. Namely cheese and pasta. Two words. Buffalo Mozzarella. Two more. Vino Rosso. Did I mention the Wild Boar? Around every corner is another wonderful Castle, Statue, Landscape, Sculpture, Masterpiece. No one is in a hurry, except the Vespas. Stress is a non-issue. Marble streets aren’t a prone to potholes. Climbed to the top of Michaelangelo’s dome and looked out on the view from here…
I’ll be back!
